COUNCILWOMAN GIBSON PRESENTS FLACS I WITH AN AWARD CHECK

Councilwoman Vanessa Gibson, District 16, participated for the first time in the 2016-17 Participatory Budgeting (PB) process in determining how to spend $1 million in Capital Discretionary Funding. Those Council members who choose to join Participatory Budgeting, give their community the opportunity to participate in decision-making process through a public vote to determine how those funds will be used. FLACS I was awarded $70,000 in PB funding to purchase laptop carts and computers. FLACS I was the only charter school in Council District 16 to receive this award along with PS 11, MS219, PS 294 and 311.  Click here to watch Ms. Gibson present FLACS I with the award during FLACS I's Commencement Ceremony.
Councilwoman Vanessa Gibson has been an ardent supporter of FLACS since entering office, has supported FLACS I’s summer programing and was the keynote speaker at the 2016 FLACS I Commencement Ceremony. To learn more about Councilwoman Vanessa Gibson and Participatory Budgeting click here.
